Tracworx have been going from strength to strength with their product, serving huge clients such as Apple TV and Diageo.
When I  began work with them, their marketing site was no longer relevant and they were in need of a branding and web refresh that would represent them as market-leaders.
I started by leading their core team through a rebranding process to achieve company-wide alignment on their offering, messaging, and visual aesthetic. I then designed and developed a new marketing site that communicates their value and visualises movement and digitisation, with a clean, professional aesthetic.
Interactions were a central part of this project, from the informative supply-chain graphic in the hero section to the bento box hover states. I used CSS keyframes and jQuery to create complex animations that are lightweight and responsive.

WovenLight is a hybrid investment and technology firm based in London. I worked as part of a team under Territory Studio to revamp their web presence ahead of a major industry conference.
I worked in collaboration with another designer on the team to create the site designs. After gaining feedback on calls with the client and refining the designs for approval, we moved on to development.
I was the sole developer on the project and built the site from scratch using best practices and frameworks that I've built up across all my site builds.
Clarity of message, tasteful interactions that support communication and an overall clean, professional aesthetic were integral to this site.

OmTerra is a holistic psychedelic therapy practice based in Oregon. Steve Elfrink, the founder, approached me to carry out a rebrand and create their new website.
Steve wanted to create a professional & elegant site that sets him apart from his competition, tells his incredible personal story, and communicates his alternative therapy processes in a way that any visitor can understand.
Steve wanted the site to take the visitor on a journey, creating a feeling of exploration – allowing them to dig deeper if they like, or get a digestible overview.

As the Founding Designer & Front-End Developer at Cloutdesk, I’ve been responsible for everything design-wise at Cloutdesk since putting together the first concept screen designs, used to pitch initial investors. Fast forward to now, Cloutdesk has several marketing companies co-ordinating countless online creators through the platform.
In a recent product update, I carried out a UX audit on the entire application; going through user journeys to document issues and areas for improvement. I then worked alongside the CEO to wireframe improvements. We used these for rounds of user research and revisions, until we had final designs. I then took my designs and built out the front end for the entire application, connected to placeholder data. We used this for more testing and revisions, before handing over to the CTO to connect to real data and launch to production.

GWEC needed a fresh new look for their electrical contracting business. With a logo already provided, I selected colours and typography before supplying a brand kit and website.
The website features a signature lighting feature in the hero section, created using conic gradients and blurred layers, which is animated on page load using jQuery.
Gavin wanted to highlight Solar as a service, so I created a Webflow interaction featuring a rising and setting sun to make the section stand out.

In 2022, two close friends of mine quit their jobs to start up a Mexican food truck. I was delighted to design a brand, food menus and a website for them.
Only just over a year later, they’re thriving – setting up at recurring weekly locations, a full-time brick and mortar location in Dublin, and at some of Ireland's biggest festivals.
Their success might have more to do with their famous birria tacos than with their design, but who’s to say?

In the early stages of the pandemic, M.A.P.S. decided to throw an online event to celebrate bicycle day. I was pulled into the project last-minute as the Webflow developer, to create the online experience in time for the event.
The event website hosted 40+ unique virtual experiences hosted by musicians, artists, and creators from around the world and drew over 12,000 unique visitors over the course of the evening.

Process & Skills

What I do:

  • I help people and organisations to define and clarify their offering, their position in the market, and how they want to be perceived.

  • I take these discoveries and use them to design a brand and website that accurately and beautifully represents them.

  • I make them a central part of this process, and once the designs are approved, I build high-performing, robust websites.

  • When not fulfilling this process end-to-end, I can jump into a project and contribute my skills at any stage.

Professional history

  • Head of Branding, Web Design & Development

  • Freelance Designer & Developer

    2019–present

  • Founding & Lead Designer, Frontend Developer

    2019–2023, Cloutdesk

  • BSc Product Design & Technology (2:1 Hons)

    2014–2018, University of Limerick

How did I get here?

After graduating from the University of Limerick, I moved to Barcelona and found my first paid design work creating posters for a bar. I then had a short internship and established myself as a freelance designer/developer, before taking up the role of Founding Designer at Cloutdesk.

I joined the Cloutdesk team in 2019 and became their longest-standing employee. During my time there, I facilitated design workshops, contributed to key discussions about the company's future and product roadmap, conducted countless user & client interviews, and collaborated closely with the CEO, CTO, and developers to design our brand, marketing site, and both internal & customer-facing apps.

To overcome frustrations with design-dev handovers, I upskilled to learn our tech stack and stayed up-to-date as it evolved–from HTML, CSS and SCSS to React, Typescript and Material UI, then ShadCN, Vercel, TailwindCSS and Storybook.js

This allowed me to ensure pixel-perfect frontend implementations of my designs and culminated in me becoming responsible for everything from design research & interviews, through UX and UI designs, and on to developing clickable front-end interfaces, which we used for testing and feedback before I’d hand over to the CTO to connect to the back-end.

Going forward

I stopped working full-time for Cloutdesk in summer '23 and have worked on a range of freelance projects since, both independently and through agencies. Recently, I began leading Branding, Web Design & Development at Stuks Design.

I love helping people to clarify their story and then using design to tell it in a memorable way. I thrive when I can balance my time between design and development, not only creating beautiful designs but also executing them exactly as they're envisioned on the frontend.

I'm particularly interested in collaborating with other creatives, working with companies that align with my values and interests, or those who are trying to make a positive impact in the world.

Outside of work

I'm music-obsessed, love to travel–often solo, love making or consuming good photos, art, design, and food. Until recently, I was living in Vancouver, where I was skiing and training Muay Thai through the winter, hiking, biking and camping through the summer. I've just moved to London, where I hope to see some grass once in a while...

I've enjoyed organising and hosting small events, giving my friends an opportunity to share their poetry, music, or stories with each other. I've also become very involved with Seanchoíche, as photographer, designer, speaker, and host.

I find these bio sections always sound very generic, but they say a picture is worth 1,000 words – so here's 12,000 to give an impression of me.

If you have a project you'd like to collaborate on, or want to reach out for any other reason, I'd love to hear from you.
